Max Planck Internship Program 2024
The Max Planck Institutes for Informatics (Saarbruecken), Software Systems (Saarbruecken and Kaiserslautern), and Security and Privacy (Bochum) provide research internship opportunities in various fields of Computer Science.
Participating in an internship at a Max Planck Institute offers a unique opportunity to engage in cutting-edge computer science research. It’s also a fantastic chance to explore new areas of research or delve into research for the first time.
Internships are available to outstanding students pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degrees globally, as well as professionals from industry seeking academic research experience in computer science.
Due to the limited number of positions, the selection process is highly competitive.
While internships are offered throughout the year, the majority of interns choose to participate during the summer. Each intern is paired with a faculty mentor from one of the participating institutes.
The projects assigned during the internship are tailored to the intern’s academic interests, level of expertise, and previous experience.
All internships are fully funded, covering living expenses, accommodation, and roundtrip travel. Internships typically last 12 to 14 weeks, though longer durations may be possible.
For summer internships (those beginning between May and August), the application deadline is November 1 of the previous year. Successful applicants will be notified by March 1.
For internships starting outside the summer months, applications should be submitted at least five months prior to your desired start date.
Please note:
Applications for non-summer internships are evaluated based on the needs of specific projects and research groups. If accepted, you can expect a response within 3 to 4 months after applying.
