A remote, full time role built for someone who knows Nigerian, Ghanaian, and Kenyan communities in the US from the inside, and wants to get paid to grow a fintech built for people like them.

If you have ever felt like most corporate job listings were written for someone else, someone with a completely different background, a different culture, a different lived experience, this one is different. Pesa, a fast growing cross border payments platform, is hiring a Growth Associate in the United States, and the role was practically built around the kind of cultural fluency many Africans in the diaspora already carry with them every single day.

This is not a desk job buried in spreadsheets. It is a role that puts you in real cities, at real community events, building real relationships, all while helping a company whose entire mission is making life easier for Africans, immigrants, travelers, and freelancers who need to send and receive money quickly, safely, and at great rates.

Let us walk you through why this opportunity deserves your attention.

What Pesa Is Building

Pesa is on a mission to become the most trusted financial brand for the global diaspora. The company helps Africans and immigrants around the world move money across borders without the usual stress, high fees, or unreliable platforms that so many people have grown used to. As the company expands, they are now looking to grow their presence specifically within Ghanaian, Nigerian, and Kenyan communities across the United States, and that is exactly where this role comes in.

What The Growth Associate Role Actually Involves

This position is built on travel, community, and hands on execution, not the usual behind a screen growth marketing role. As the US Growth Associate, you will spend three to five days every few weeks in a new US city, representing Pesa at African community events, building partnerships, and accelerating user acquisition from the ground up.

Here is what you will be building and owning.

Travel And On The Ground Presence: You will travel across the USA every few weeks, establishing Pesa’s presence in new cities, attending community events, and growing relationships with local leaders and organizations.

User Acquisition Strategy: You will develop and execute acquisition strategies tailored specifically to Ghanaian and Nigerian expat communities in the US, owning growth targets for your assigned markets and optimizing campaigns using real data and insights.

Community Trust And Advocacy: You will lead community driven initiatives that build trust and awareness for Pesa, organizing and participating in local events, meetups, and forums while maintaining strong relationships with community leaders and grassroots partners.

Partnerships That Drive Growth: You will identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships with relevant organizations and businesses, ensuring every partnership delivers real, measurable value.

Market Research And Insight: You will conduct ongoing research to understand user needs and behaviors, feeding insights directly to the Product and Marketing teams while serving as the internal voice of the user.

Who Pesa Is Looking For

This role is not for everyone, and that is exactly the point. Pesa wants someone who genuinely understands the communities they are trying to reach. Here is what they are looking for.

  • At least one to three years of experience in fast paced environments, ideally in growth, sales, marketing, or a related field
  • A deep understanding of African communities in the United States, particularly Ghanaian, Nigerian, and Kenyan diaspora networks, with genuine cultural fluency
  • A proven ability to work against targets and deliver measurable results
  • A strong data driven mindset, someone who can interpret performance and adjust strategy accordingly
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders
  • An entrepreneurial, tenacious mindset, someone who takes ownership and pushes through obstacles
  • Self motivation and comfort working independently in a remote environment, with willingness to travel extensively and occasionally work weekends

Nice to have, though not required:

  • Prior experience launching or scaling ventures in new markets
  • A background in fintech, payments, or diaspora focused products
  • An established network within Ghanaian and Nigerian diaspora communities

Where You Will Be Based

While this is a remote role, Pesa is giving preference to candidates based in Atlanta, New York City, Houston, or Ohio. That said, qualified candidates from other locations are still encouraged to apply, so do not count yourself out if you are not based in one of those cities.

What The Interview Process Looks Like

Pesa keeps their hiring process straightforward and structured across three stages. It starts with a recruiter or HR screen covering culture fit, background, and compensation alignment. From there, candidates move to a hiring manager interview, which dives deeper into growth experience, channel expertise, and strategic thinking. The final stage is a leadership and culture fit conversation to close out the process.

Final Word: If This Sounds Like You, Do Not Wait

Roles like this do not come around often, a genuine opportunity to combine purpose, travel, community, and career growth, all while working for a company built to serve people who look and live like you. If you understand the African diaspora experience in America, if you are entrepreneurial, data driven, and ready to build something real rather than sit behind a desk, Pesa wants to hear from you.

This is more than a job. It is a chance to shape how an entire fintech connects with the communities it was built to serve.
