The Nigerian startup plans to strengthen its cybersecurity products and turn existing pilot projects into commercial deployments as businesses face growing digital security challenges.

Nigerian cybersecurity startup Aeon has raised $1 million in pre-seed funding to develop its security technology and expand its reach among businesses and organisations that depend on digital infrastructure.

The funding round was led by Terra Industries, a Nigerian defence technology company, with participation from Resilience17, the investment fund of Flutterwave co-founder Olugbenga Agboola, alongside DFS Labs, Kaleo Ventures, Seedstars, and Ajim Capital.

Aeon is developing cybersecurity tools designed to help organisations monitor their digital systems, identify weaknesses, and protect their networks and data. Its technology targets sectors such as banking, energy, cloud infrastructure, and government, where security breaches can disrupt operations and expose sensitive information.

The company was founded by Samuel Ogbonyomi, Ben Eluan, and Alex Idowu following their experience building cloud infrastructure solutions at PipeOps. Its products include Aeon Console, a platform for monitoring security operations, and Aeon Edge, which provides network visibility and helps organisations respond to compromised devices.

Aeon plans to use the new funding to improve its products, expand business development, and convert existing pilot projects into paying commercial deployments. The company has begun pilot engagements with financial institutions and cloud infrastructure businesses as it works to demonstrate the value of its technology.

The investment also strengthens Aeon’s relationship with Terra Industries. The two companies plan to combine their capabilities through a commercial partnership, with Terra providing physical security solutions and Aeon handling cybersecurity. Together, they intend to pursue opportunities with corporate and government customers.

The partnership reflects a growing need to protect both physical infrastructure and the digital systems that support it. As businesses increasingly depend on connected devices, software, and cloud services, cybersecurity has become an important part of keeping operations secure.

However, securing customers and converting pilot projects into long-term contracts will be important tests for the startup as it expands. Aeon’s funding represents another effort by a Nigerian technology company to develop security solutions for organisations in Nigeria and other emerging markets.
